They celebrate indie films, the ones that don’t always make money, but the ones that are always more interesting than the commercial crap that Hollywood spits out. I like this award show because it’s laid back, takes place in a tent, and they sing the nominees for best picture in a satirical parody. How great is that?

The show actually took place this afternoon but is on a tape delay, so I already know who won, but the show is worth watching to see all the great films — many of which I haven’t seen — featured. I was happy to have seen a good number of the films featured so far like Talk To Me, Rescue Dawn, and of course Juno.

I read somewhere recently that Juno is the second highest grossing indie film of all time, which is quite a feat considering it was written by a first time scribe who used to be a stripper. Needless to say Juno pretty much cleaned up winning Best First Screenplay, Best Actress, and Best Picture.

Tomorrow evening the Oscars will do their thing and people will be happy, but at least tonight the Hollywood worth watching got their day.
