Lost Questions
Since the series began over a year ago I have been hooked, no addicted to LOST. Each week I sit glued to the television looking for answers but usually finding more questions. They started off pretty simple like “how did the plane crash?” or “was that a polar bear?” but then became more complex like “what does 4 8 15 16 23 42 mean?” or “why is there an entire underground apartment complete with old records, a ping-pong table and oh yeah, an s-load of weaponry?” Though tonight’s episode of LOST, 2×14: One of Them, introduced another question even more complex then the prior ones: “WTF ARE ANCHENT EGYPTIAN HIEROGLIPHICS DOING IN THE COUNTDOWN!?!”
These questions have answers, I’m sure of it, though I’m not quite sure when those answers will be revealed. This episode was the first of the second half of season two and the only question that has been answered so far is “what is inside the hatch?” This question, as I stated above, only posed more questions.
This is the power that LOST has over me and the millions of other viewers like me. While there are various “explanations” as to just what the show is about — all the castaways are lost souls in a sort of purgatory where the characters come to terms with their pasts’; it’s all one person’s coma dream; the island is just an experiment used to discover complexities of the mind; etc — the only truth is that I’ll have to wait and see the series unfold. There will be more questions and fewer answers and unless there is some sort of giant monster that seems to eat people then I’ll stay hooked — oh wait, nevermind. I’ll just stay hooked.
