The Real World

Ok, so I seemed to drop off the face of the earth here. It wasn’t the first time and I’m pretty sure it won’t be the last. Though, I do have a good excuse.

I graduated from The Florida State University a little over a week ago with a degree in Business Administration. I actually don’t have the degree yet. It comes in the mail at some point, or so they tell me. I guess it was pretty cool now, but while I was actually graduating it just seemed like a big pain. Let me put it in context.

The night before the ceremony I was packing until 2am. Four hours of sleep later I was up and getting dressed, amidst the revelation that the ‘Runaway Bride’ made the story up, and heading out the door for Commencement. Three hours later I was back in my dorm moving out. It just seemed like a big mess, but now I’m a college graduate and that is pretty cool.

You could say I’m putting off my entrance to the real world by just a little bit. No, I’m not going on to get an MBA or a law degree, but I am working at the church as the Summer Youth Intern. Basically I get to plan out the summer for the kids and make it all happen. It’s actually a lot of fun and a pretty sweet way to transition into the working world.

On the web side of things, it seems I have a boat load of web pages to be working on of late. There is this one, the old Bryan Hall site, my newly acquired www.JustinCox.com, and two new sites: one for a hosting company and the other for a friend seeking fame as an actress. Look for more information on those once the sites are completed.

I guess you can say I’ve been keeping pretty busy and probably will throughout the summer. Mixed in all the above activities I’m going to be trying to find a job so if anyone has something to offer, feel free to contact me. But that’s my life in a nutshell. Maybe I’ll try and update more often here and actually make this site worth viewing. We’ll see.

[Preface: the original article that prompted this response had closed its comments - so I'm posting it here instead] What’s wrong with the goals Air America set for themselves (assuming they weren’t in jest?). Regardless, they’ve grown past them and are now a contrary voice to the right wing echo chamber that exists on AM dials all across the US. Al Franken is not an extreme leftist. I’m an extreme leftist, so I should know. Janeane Garofolo is whip-smart, and Chuck D is one of the brightest thinkers ever to come out of the world of rap/hip hop; he’s a passionate advocate for free speech and artists rights, and your feeble condescention is unwarranted. I used to be completely unaware of Al Franken’s work, so I forgive your writing him off as a talentless hack; but he’s written for Saturday Night Live for two decades, and authored “When a Man Loves a Woman” (with Andy Garcia and Meg Ryan). Before you pan his work - you might actually want to try reading it (or tuning into it). As for your dismal prediction; Air America to date (6/23) is on 64 stations nationwide, and the Al Franken Show routinely beats the O’Reilly Factor in the key demographic in New York every month. Good call, dude!
