Who Ordered the Suspicious Package?

May 30, 2003 | Justin

In case you were wondering where the website has been over the last few days I’m about to tell you. No, it wasn’t a result of America being under an Orange Alert nor was it a result of alien abduction. No, the server that houses the wonderful Lone Palm Creations was being updated. What does that mean? Well not much for you really but for me it means some cooler new features on the backend of the website. You shouldn’t notice any changes, maybe a few on the forums in the coming days, we’ll see what happens. All depends on when the upgrade is complete.

Anyway, I come to you today with a story of our local security at work. Today while I was walking to Orange County Courthouse (delivering stuff for work) I noticed a plethora of fire trucks, cops, and yes, even a few HazMat guys here and there. Come to find out that shortly before I arrived at the Courthouse someone found a “suspicious package!” Watch out now! So, on account of this “suspicious package” the entire 23 story building was evacuated. Yeah, it was a mess. Luckily I was arriving right as they started letting employees back in. After that, us little people were allowed to pass through the security gates. I must say that it was pretty thorough. I had to remove EVERYTHING from my pockets AND my wallet. I feel bad for people that may have something potentially embarrassing in their wallet/purse. But, once I made it through the gates and collected my handful of wallet contents and documents and whatnot, I was on my way. The good thing was there weren’t any screaming kids and crazy people wondering around Domestic and Family Court like there usually is. See, there’s a bright side to everything. And you know, for my first post 9-11 bomb scare–everyone remembers the old Sandman scare back at Conway a few years ago. I always thought it was a bright idea to evacuate the building for a bomb scare and then sit down next to the school propane tanks–I feel pretty secure. Here’s to security! Here’s to bomb scares! Here’s to dinner! Yeah, I’m hungry and therefore ending this tyrate (there’s that word I made up again). Until next time faithful followers.

At Aloma elementary, we had a bomb threat at the gas station that was 20 feet away from the playground, and they lined us right up along that playground fence. Grand memories of adult brilliance, eh, boys?

we did have a bomb scare at boone…i was in ms. godfrey’s class at the time…they didn’t want anyone to know about that and when they tracked the phone call, it was from one of our own payphones.
